County and Municipal Records Database

This database provides PDF images of county and municipal records that have been digitized by the Missouri State Archives. These records are not searchable by name or subject, but can be browsed by county, office, record type, and date.

Content is regularly added to this database, but not all records that have been microfilmed are included. For a detailed list of the records held by the Archives for each county, see our County and Municipal Records on Microfilm page.

Researchers should select multiple fields to help narrow their search.

See our Description of Record Series page for more details about the types of records created by each county office.

The keyword search allows the researcher to more narrowly define a record type.

Example:

Searching marriages in the record type dropdown will show listings for all marriage records (Marriage Licenses, Marriage Applications, Marriage Registers, Indexes to Marriages, etc.) for the county selected. Adding the search term “index” to the keyword field will narrow the search to only Marriage Indexes.
Searching Probate Records in the record type dropdown will show all listings for probate record books for the county selected. To narrow the results to just Inventory books, add the search term “inventory” to the keyword search field. For loose wills and probate case files see the Judicial Database.
A researcher may browse through all of the records included for a specific county by just searching the county name from the dropdown.
