This panel and the next display a timeline of Missouri Civil War companies. An unusually high number of different military units originated in Missouri. They are listed here in chronological order by date of formation:

April 15, 1861: Three Months Missouri Militia or Missouri Volunteers
April 30, 1861: United States Reserve Corps, Three Months
May 3, 1861: Missouri Volunteers – Infantry
June 11, 1861: Home Guards
August 12, 1861: United States Reserve Corps, Three Years
August 24, 1861: Six or Twelve Months, Missouri Volunteers
