Online teacher/sponsor and student registrations for the Central Missouri National History Day contest will open on Monday, November 30, 2020 and close on Friday, March 5, 2021. All teachers/sponsors and students must be registered and student entries submitted by 11:59 p.m. on March 5.

To access the Central Missouri NHDMO Student/Teacher Registration information, type the following into your search engine, Missouri State Archives (Mid Missouri) Regional Contest, go directly to or go to and search by state and contest. As in past years, teachers must register before their students can do so.

During the week of March 30, we will announce the delegates to the state contest, which will be in April. The interlude between the submissions deadline and the announcement will allow our volunteer judges to review and evaluate the entries.

Following the announcement of delegates to the state contest, all entrants may access their evaluations through the registration system. All regional contest participants will receive a certificate of participation as an email attachment using the email address  provided during registration.

This year, the City of Columbia’s Human Rights Commission is sponsoring two special awards for Central Missouri Region National History Day participants; one to a junior division entry and one to a senior division entry. Entrants with projects exploring topics relating to human rights and/or equal opportunity are eligible for these prizes of $100. Preference will be given to projects with a state or local connection.
