Central Missouri Region - National History Day

The Office of the Missouri Secretary of State is proud to have sponsored the National History Day central Missouri regional competition for many years. Students in grades 6-12 from schools in Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Howard, Moniteau, Morgan, Osage, Pettis and Saline counties research topics related to a broad annual theme (NHD Theme Narrative). The 2022 National History Day theme is Debate & Diplomacy in History: Successes, Failures, Consequences.

Each year more than half a million students from across the globe participate in National History Day. The contests are divided into Junior Division (grades 6-8) and Senior Division (grades 9-12), with five categories per division. These categories, assembled by presentation type, include individual or group documentaries, exhibits, performances and websites or individual historical papers (NHD Student Project Examples).

This year performances and exhibits are scheduled to be live, but that is subject to change. Central Missouri NHD Performance and Exhibit live contest date and time is March 3rd, 4pm to 7pm at Columbia College in the Bixby Lecture Hall and New Hall in Columbia, Missouri. The delegates will be announced at the end of the live event.
